For our younger students, learning and play often go hand in hand. When an activity feels like a game, the children become excited to participate and eager to show what they know. It is always wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they practice new skills together.
One activity we enjoy is practicing numbers and counting with large, tactile flashcards. The cards are laid out in front of each child, and they are challenged to point to the number that is called out. This kind of movement-based activity helps keep the students engaged while they strengthen their number recognition and counting skills.
We also practice phonics using flashcards with pictures and simple words. These activities often include big actions, funny voices, and lots of laughter. The students love participating and are always eager to show that they can recognize the sounds and words we have been learning.
Another important part of our daily routine is our classroom calendar. Each day, the children get the chancd to come to the front and point to the correct date. They enjoy helping the class keep track of the days, and it is lovely to see how proud they are when they show their friends what day it is.
Through these fun and interactive activities, our students continue to build confidence in their counting and phonics skills while enjoying the learning process together.
