Our K1s went on a very special adventure: their first-ever class field trip to Shinagawa Aquarium!

Everyone was very excited to set off together, and the school bus was buzzing with energy. The children happily sang songs all the way there, with The Wheels on the Bus being the favourite!

Once we arrived, the K1s did a wonderful job staying together, holding hands with their partners, and following their teachers’ instructions.

There was so much to see!

We saw…
Colourful fish… 🐟
Peaceful starfish…
Playful seals…
Big dolphins…
Scary sharks…
Pretty jellyfish…
And, of course, penguins! 🐧

The jellyfish were especially exciting because we had been talking about them in class for quite some time. The K1s were delighted to finally see them in person and were fascinated by the way they floated and moved through the water.

The seals were another big hit! We had recently learned the word seal during our vocabulary lessons, so the children were eager to take a closer look at one swimming and playing in its tank.

The enormous dolphins were a little more surprising, they were much bigger than the children had expected! The large shark with its sharp teeth also made some of us a little cautious.

But the penguins were the absolute stars of the day! The K1s were thrilled when the penguins swam right up to them, and they even got to watch them eating their fish. Everyone agreed that the penguins were wonderfully cute!

We also had the chance to watch a dolphin show, where we saw the dolphins leaping high out of the water. It was a great way to finish our aquarium adventure before heading back to school.

Our first field trip was such a wonderful experience, and we were incredibly proud of how responsibly the K1s behaved throughout the day. What an amazing first adventure, K1s! We can’t wait to see where our next one takes us! 🫧
