Today at Prime Academic Preschool Gotanda the students had an eye-opening experience. This Thursday the children spent the whole evening learning about light and fire.
During the first part of the lesson the children discussed different uses for fire and why we might need it in our homes. Our teacher spoke about a time before electricity when we needed fire to see at night.
The first thing we discussed was why fire could be dangerous to have in the home and some of the things that could cause a candle to make a fire. We needed to learn this so that we could behave well with the candles in the room.
Finally, the children had a chance to look at some real candles and sketch what they could see.
It was a great chance for the kids to experience something dangerous up close in a controlled environment.
