August 3rd was National Watermelon Day. The day is celebrated in many countries in the world as the Watermelon is a delicious treat to enjoy during the summer. It consists of around 90% water, which helps keep us hydrated during the hit and humid months. We spent some time to celebrate the national observance by going outside and take turns breaking open a watermelon!
Everyone took turns trying to smash it open with a tube. It took quite a number of attempts, but they enjoyed doing their best to see the pink innards of the fruit. After we got juicy treat opened, we enjoyed a few slices indoors away from the heat to cool us down.
What you see aren’t the real watermelons! Those are bags that we made in the afternoon as a cool craft for everyone to take home as a souvenir! , glue, string, and colored pencils to design them the way each student wanted.
We hope that everyone has a great weekend! Stay hydrated and enjoy as much watermelon as you can.
