Building Bridges

This month at Prime Academic Preschool Gotanda we have been learning all about wood and it’s uses in the world. This theme has been ‘Wood is Good’ and the children have really been enjoying the topic.

During our lesson today we talked about the various uses of wood in building and construction. We learned the names of different forms of wood like planks and timber and then we thought about how we can use wood ourselves to make something interesting.

As a team we decided to build a Da Vinci Bridge. It as a design that uses no nails or rope to stand up and it can support a lot of weight!

The children assisted their teacher with putting the bridge together. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Finally we tested out our bridge and even the teacher was able to stand on it without it falling down. What a well made construction! Wood is good.
