This afternoon at Prime Academic Preschool Gotanda we continued with our studies of the market. Today was the final day of the study and the students have been looking forward to it all week!

The most important lesson we aimed to teach the students today was about budgeting. Each student in the school brought 200 yen to use in the market. The students could use that 200 yen for whichever items they liked but they would not be allowed to spend any more than 200 yen.

The goal of the exercise was to help the students learn about the idea of cost opportunity. We are trying to help the students understand that spending money on one thing means that you are unable to buy something else with the same money.

It was a fantastic life lesson for the children and a great experience for an afternoon class.
