Staying Safe and Working Together

This week, the children practiced an earthquake evacuation drill. At first, they quickly moved under the tables to keep themselves safe from anything that might fall. Everyone stayed calm and listened carefully to the teachers, waiting until it was safe to come out.

After the “shaking” was over, the students followed their teachers down the stairs in an orderly line. This helped them learn how to exit the building carefully and safely, just like they would need to in a real emergency. Practicing together makes everyone feel more confident and ready.

We explained to the children why it is important to hide under the tables during an earthquake. Protecting their heads and bodies helps keep them safe from falling objects. Moving together as a group afterward shows the importance of listening and teamwork in staying safe.

In the afternoon, the children enjoyed a very different kind of teamwork. They played with dominoes, working together to design long, winding paths. Each student took turns adding pieces while carefully watching that nothing fell too soon.

Finally, the excitement built as the dominoes were set into motion. The children cheered as their creation tumbled down perfectly. It was a wonderful reminder that teamwork is not only important in emergencies, but also in play and learning.

It was great to see teamwork from our students and we wish you all a happy weekend!
